STRIVE: Key Stage 4

Our KS4 provision offers a dynamic and tailored curriculum designed to meet the diverse needs of students in a supportive small group setting. This approach encourages students to engage deeply with their studies, helping them to build the confidence and skills necessary for future success. Our aim is to facilitate a smooth transition into further education or training, including potential reintegration into mainstream schooling when appropriate.

Core Subjects and Specialist Support

All students have access to a comprehensive selection of core subjects, including English Language, English Literature, Maths, and Science. These subjects are taught by our specialist STRIVE teaching team, who have expertise in supporting students with varying educational needs. Subject teachers from the main school also visit regularly to ensure continuity of instruction and to maintain high standards.

Option Subjects

In addition to our core subjects, STRIVE offers two option subjects: History and Sport Studies. These subjects provide students with the opportunity to delve into areas of interest while developing critical thinking and analytical skills. By studying History, students can explore significant events and themes that have shaped the world, fostering an understanding of the past and its impact on the present. Sport Studies encourages students to engage with physical education, understanding the principles of health, fitness, and sports management.

These options not only enrich the educational experience but also allow students to make informed choices about their future pathways. We believe that having a choice in their subjects empowers students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for further education or vocational training.

Individualised Learning Plans

Each student is provided with an individualised learning plan tailored to their specific academic goals and personal development. These plans are collaboratively developed by teachers, support staff, and, where appropriate, the students themselves. Ongoing assessments and regular reviews ensure that each student is progressing effectively and receiving the necessary support.

Preparing for Future Pathways

Our ultimate goal is to prepare students for successful transitions to further education, training, or employment. We work closely with local colleges and training providers to ensure students are aware of the options available to them. We also provide support in developing essential skills such as study techniques, time management, and self-advocacy, which are crucial for success in future endeavours.

Additional Support Services

We offer a range of additional support services, including counselling, mentoring, and workshops focused on skills development. These services address the emotional, social, and academic needs of our students, helping them build resilience and coping strategies essential for their overall well-being and success in education.

Parental Involvement

Engaging parents and guardians in their child’s education is a priority for us. We maintain regular communication through progress reports, parent-teacher consultations, and workshops that provide guidance on how to support their child's learning at home. This partnership ensures that families are well-informed and actively involved in their child’s educational journey.

By fostering a nurturing and empowering environment, we aim to enable our students to reach their full potential and confidently navigate their transitions to the next stages of their lives.
