Our KS3 provision offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to support students in a small group setting, providing a more personalised and positive learning experience. This tailored approach allows students to re-engage with their education and develop the confidence and skills necessary to succeed. Our goal is to help students transition back into mainstream education when it is appropriate for their individual needs.
All students have access to a full range of core subjects, including English, Maths, and Science. These subjects are delivered by our specialist STRIVE teaching team, who are experienced in working with students requiring additional support. Additionally, subject teachers from the main school regularly visit the department to ensure continuity and high-quality instruction.
Beyond the core subjects, we offer a broad curriculum that includes humanities, arts, and physical education. This ensures that students receive a well-rounded education, maintaining engagement and fostering a love of learning. By providing a diverse range of subjects, we aim to meet the varied interests and strengths of our students.
Each student has an individualised learning plan tailored to their specific needs and goals. These plans are developed in collaboration with teachers, support staff, and, where appropriate, the students themselves. Regular reviews and adjustments ensure that each student is making progress and receiving the support they need.
Our ultimate goal is to facilitate a seamless transition back to mainstream education. By aligning our curriculum with that of the main school, we ensure that students keep up with their peers academically. When students are ready to return to mainstream classes, they do so with confidence and minimal disruption to their learning.
We also provide a range of additional support services, including counselling, mentoring, and skill-building workshops. These services address the emotional and social needs of our students, helping them develop resilience and coping strategies that are crucial for their overall well-being and academic success.
We believe in the importance of involving parents and guardians in their child’s education. Regular communication, including progress reports and parent-teacher meetings, ensures that families are kept informed and can actively participate in their child’s educational journey.
By providing a supportive and nurturing environment, we aim to empower our students to achieve their full potential and successfully reintegrate into mainstream education when the time is right.
