Enrichment is an important part of our students' development - universities and employers want fully rounded individuals to join them. We offer a range of enrichment opportunities to our students to help them get to the next stage of their journey.
Paired Reading: a group of year 12 and 13 students dedicate their free time to helping younger students improve their reading.
Peer Mentoring: We have worked with the Diocese of Ely this year, and have trained 12 year 12 and 13 students to become Peer Mentors. Our students have done a fantastic job of working with younger students who are suffering with anxiety and low self esteem. The year 12 and 13 students have been excellent role models and have made some good relationships with the younger students. All students are fully trained in mentoring and safeguarding, and have planned amazing sessions for the younger students.
Subject support: some students go into lessons to support younger students in lessons such as Maths, Geography and Art. Such enrichment helps those students who want to go into education.
Work Experience: many of our students attend high quality work experience which will help them with their future careers. Our students have attended weekly work experience at local primary schools, Hinchingbrooke Hospital, and local businesses and industry; all of the students have found the experience worthwhile.
Charity events: many of out students are keen to raise money for charity, whether it is through organising cake sales or wearing a Christmas Jumper. This year we have already supported MacMillan Cancer Support, Save the Children, Children in Need and The Godmanchester Foodbank.
Trips: we try to ensure that we go out of school as often as possible. Every year we go to at least on West End musical, and in December 2017, 40 students went to watch The Lion King at The Lyceum. In conjunction with the Business Studies department, we also arrange a trip to London in the Summer term for students to go and see the sights!
Sports: we are lucky to be able to offer all of our students sporting ativities to not only develop their team skills but to also help them to relax. Football is always very popular, but we have also offered hockey, Pilates and fitness.
