Revision
Overview:
This section of the website is designed to support parents, carers and students with understanding the most effective ways to revise for external examinations. Within this section, you will find strategies for engaging in effective revision, as well as links to specific websites and resources to support you with subject specific revision tasks.
Revision Strategies:
- Use spaced repetition – Revisit topics at increasing intervals rather than cramming, which strengthens long-term memory.
- Test yourself regularly – Retrieval practice (quizzes, flashcards, past questions) is one of the most powerful ways to boost recall.
- Break revision into manageable chunks – Use short, focused sessions (e.g., 25–30 minutes) with planned breaks to avoid overload.
- Create a realistic revision timetable – Plan what to study and when, spreading out subjects and building in rest and flexibility.
- Summarise information in your own words – Rewriting notes concisely helps deepen understanding and makes recall easier.
- Use active revision techniques – Mind maps, checklists, teaching someone else, or verbally explaining ideas keep you engaged.
- Prioritise weak areas – Identify topics you struggle with and allocate more time to them rather than repeatedly revising what you already know.
- Mix different topics during revision sessions – Interleaving (switching between subjects or concepts) improves problem-solving and adaptability.
- Limit distractions – Work in a quiet, tidy space and use “do not disturb” settings to stay focused during revision blocks.
- Look after your wellbeing – Sleep, hydration, exercise, and regular breaks support memory, focus, and exam performance.

In the Year 11 team, students can also find a link to overall resources for every subject in the ‘Files’ section at the top of their Teams page.
They can also use this forum to ask any questions they may have about revision.
